Watch your step!
I was displeased with my old site so I went to Open Source Web Design and found myself something better. Though I am a web designer myself, I also don't have as much time as I used to so I need to prioritize things. Using a prefabricated template is a time saver. This site doesn't pay the bills. Know what I mean? :-)
what you can expect here
it will always be free! My music will always and forever be 100% FREE. The ability to purchase some albums is purely a means to allow you to throw your monetary support our way ONLY IF YOU WANT TO and avoids any sort of "begging for donations" type crap. If you only want to toss a buck or two into the tip jar, whats what it's there for -- if purchasing an album is not the route you'd prefer to go.
creative commons license You may feel free to share my songs with whomever you wish and however you wish. So do not have any legal fears. Spread it around freely.
remixing Make sure you give credit where credit is due -- but beyond that -- feel free to remix my stuff around if you wish. DJ it at clubs. Whatever. I'm not a "permission nazi" like some artists are. I'm not going to raise any sort of hell if you remix or DJ my tunes. Just give me credit is all I ask.
are you riaa? Oh hell no! I'm an Independent Musician. The RIAA can lick my sphinkter.
how good are your tunes?
Well, unless you totally hate electronically composed music, then you'll like at least some of it, I'm sure. It is unlikely that all of it will suit your fancy, however at least some of it should. I've done my own original songs, remixes, remakes, megamixes, parodies and even fake commericals, prank calls and other things of a more humorous nature.
time warrior
Okay, so I'm a Science Geek as equally as I am a Computer Geek, hence the alias. You can find out more about me in general by clicking "the.bbs" link on the right. This section is just going to be a brief mashup of the more "musical" aspects of my persona.
At the age of 9 I started screwing around on a Casio Keyboard. Eventually moving to a better Casio Keyboard (which I still have) and then a Kawai Keyboard (which unfortunately died several years ago).
I then moved into the realms of Demoscene Tracking. Though it might seem confusing at first, a "Tracker" is both a person and a software. A Tracker (human) is the musician. A "Tracking Software" is simply the software used. The Demoscene is a cyberculture of Electronic Musicians that has existed since the 1980's. It is the Scene that caused electronic music to become "main stream". The Demoscene is an "off-shoot" of the BBS Scene (other off-shoots: artscene, hpac / hacking, textfile scene / gfiles / emags / ezines and the warez scene - which eventually gave birth to things like napster, kazaa, bittorrent, etc). The BBS Scene gave birth to "The Internet as we know it". The public "cyberspace" that isn't reserved only for the rich and privledged.
The difference between Demoscene Formats and things like "Midi" -- is that Midi is dependent upon the wave table on your sound card. So -- shitty wave table, shitty playback. You're also ONLY limited to the select number of instruments installed to your sound card. Demoscene Formats (otherwise known as "modules" or "mod music") don't have this annoying limitation.
Modules allow you to import *.wav (wave) formatted instruments and samples into the song file. The song file then tells these wave files what to play, when to play, how to play, for how long and what awesome effects should be applied as it does so.
This provides a bunch of advantages. The song quality is now determined by the quality of the wave samples -- not your sound card. Now only the samples take up space, making the air time of the song irrelevent to the size of the file (ie: you could have a 30 minuite megamix that is smaller in file size than a 3 minuite long MP3, while keeping the MP3 type quality).
Tracking Software does NOT require you to be able to "read musical score". So if you're like me and happen to SUCK at reading sheet music, then this sort of software is going to be your new best friend.
Most of my music is composed within the *.XM (Extended Module) Format. Though all of my XMs have versions that are in MP3 and OGG (for device compatibility reasons), some of my tunes are MP3 and OGG only.
The reason for this -- is that sometimes when I do megamixes which require using wave forms from other songs -- it can be easier to Mix using a wave for editor -- seeing as not all musicians use Tracking Software. Also - when merging sections of other modules together, there has been no such utility created (that i know of) that can properly "merge" two module files together.
View By Album
You can view a raw directory listing by album in this section which will allow you to download the MP3s for each one, as well as CD Covers and Disc Labels. The CD Covers are designed to use "DVD Cases" in order to provide a more "professional feel" to them.

View By Archive
What this is going to allow you to do, is browse the Archive as sorted by YEAR.
This also includes:
- Songs that are not assigned to an album
- Stupid stuff made for fun but I don't deem it album worthy
- XM, MP3 and OGG Formats
- Access to Megamixes that exceed 60-80mins and can't be burned to audio disc.
- Access to a directory where you can download all of the programs I use for making music
- Access to my personal sound samples library (Over 10,000+ Instruments and Samples!)
- Full Episodes from all of the Internet Radio Shows I've participated in.
All of this is on my Home Office Server -- NOT -- some uber l337 mad-speed corporate host. So, no direct linking or I'll cut off your nuts :-) If you run your own server and would like to be a mirror, then thats cool. I'll put together a mirror list and it'll give your site some free advertising.
DMusic Select
|
Select meaning only a select amount of my best songs, because I do not have a "Subscription Account" which would grant me more space. For those who can afford a subscription however, I'd advise it. It's a great online community of Independent Musicians and also run by the same people who provide us with boycott-riaa.com (when you create an account on Boycott RIAA or DMusic, the same account login works on BOTH sites). |
Podcasting Using Podsafe
[ Create Account | Time Warrior's Music ] |
Though Podsafe, individuals can play the songs on my profile using a play button that is provided. Podcasters are given the ability to directly queue my songs into their show at any time they wish to do so. The Podsafe Music Network is composed mostly of Independent Artists. |
Music & More On Youtube
|
Time Warrior runs both Legal Music Search and Legal Video Search. His YouTube Profile is an extension of Legal Video Search where he has his Xpresit Video Productions, Music Videos, Songs with cover graphics and more.
He also provides MP3 Downloads (courtasy of PodSafe) when he can. Click the YouTube Logo to launch in a new tab / window. |
